Associate Promo Codes

Once you've set up Programs, you're ready to start creating Sponsorships! The easiest way to do that is by using Promo Codes. In this guide, we'll walk through how to associate your promo codes with sponsorships under each of your programs.

What does associating a promo code with a sponsorship do?

A promo code can represent a marketing channel or campaign. For example, when you sponsor a podcast, you may give them a code like "POD50" that they will mention when your ad runs. Users can then use that code at checkout, indicating that they heard about your brand via that podcast.

How to add your promo codes

First, select the program you would like this sponsorship to be under. Make sure that your selected program matches the payout criteria for the sponsorships you are about to enter.

Next, you will enter the name of sponsored entity (e.g. influencer name or podcast name) and the associated promo code. You can enter multiple codes for the same entity if they have distributed multiple codes. Make sure the name is unique and recognizable — you will be using the name to add campaign costs later, if needed.

Enter all the promo codes you need under each of your programs.
Once you're done adding promo codes, you can review all your promo codes to ensure you've captured everything.

If you're also tracking sponsorships via Vanity URLs, you can Associate Existing Marketing Events as sponsorships.

Avoid Duplicate Tracking

If you have vanity URLs or UTMs that automatically apply a coupon code to a user's cart, we recommend only using promo code to track your sponsorship. Creating marketing events from those URL based events can cause duplicate tracking and inaccurately inflate the credit given.

If you have any campaign or date-based payouts, you can proceed with uploading Campaign Costs.
