Spend Discrepancies

Rule-Based Discrepancies

Rockerbox uses rule sets to classify and organize your marketing events and channels. Some examples of high-level channels include the below.

  • Paid Search
  • Paid Social
  • Display
  • Shopping

Generally, these categories are a one-to-one match with the marketing platforms you use. For example, if you use Bing to serve only search ads, your Bing data will appear in the Paid Search category.

Some platforms have the ability to serve a variety of ad types. Google Ads, in particular, can serve search ads, display ads, and shopping ads. Therefore, the spend and performance data from the Google Ads platform will be subdivided into three different channels in the Rockerbox platform: Paid Search, Display, and Shopping.

As your spend and performance are divided across multiple categories, you will see what appears to be a spend discrepancy if you compare any single category to your reporting from the marketing platform. Spend summed across all relevant categories, rather than a single category, should be used for comparison with marketing platform data.
